(Fargo, ND) Specialty Food Ingredients (SFI) has added multiple ancient grains to its list of ingredients with 3rd party validated, chemical-free, 5log kill steps.
SFI’s ground-breaking pasteurization line-up now offers 5log, organic-certified kills for flax seed, quinoa, chia and millet. The new ancient grain line-up is in addition to the previously-released pasteurized versions of walnuts, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, cashews, pine nuts, hazelnuts and sunflower seeds.
Specialty’s pasteurization method uses saturated steam in a partial vacuum to eliminate microbiological contamination in nuts and seeds, while preserving their nutritional, organic and sensory attributes. Validations received to date have been carried out by a certified, external laboratory and were conducted by a 3rd party processing authority sanctioned by the California Almond Board.
